Meet Jessica
Credentials and Licensure
Jessica is a Registered Nurse, Certified Trauma Informed Practitioner, and cPTSD survivor who has committed her life to understanding the long term impact that Trauma has on an individual. By marrying her clinical knowledge with intuition, Jessica approaches each person she works with holistically, recognizing that true, lasting healing is the result of more than just a pill or a procedure. Lifelong healing comes when we acknowledge the whole person- body, mind and spirit.
Jessica’s nursing career began caring for critically ill patients in the Emergency Department of a Level 1 Trauma Center and later Interventional Radiology, where she treated the sickest of the sick patients. Day in and day out, the situation was the same- more patients than staff to treat them. She was pained by the lack of interest by the health system to treat anything beyond the patients’ presenting symptoms. Very early on in her nursing career she was aware that the model of care was broken- the traditional medicine model treats a particular disease, not the person it affects. Each time she saw a patient, she longed to be able to address them holistically- not just body, but mind and spirit as well. The intuitive in her consistently felt the deep sense of longing to be seen and considered in totality, from her patients. They needed more than just diagnostic testing, medication and surgical intervention. They needed human connection, someone to hold space for them, and to be seen and addressed as a whole person, not just a patient id number, lost in the system. After surviving the pandemic in the hospital, she knew that she had to remove herself from that environment in an effort of self preservation. The emotional and physical overload that came along with serving the community during a global pandemic had left her numb, unable to hear her intuition, or connect with herself or others the way she once had. She found her spirit broken, she was emotionally depleted and spiritually disconnected. Her physical body began to suffer the fallout from years of living in trauma day in and day out. With that, she made the difficult decision to walk away from emergency medicine and hospital based nursing all together, in a radical act of self love. Unsure what the future would hold, she left the hospital and moved on to the Community Health setting, where she began to work with underserved and vulnerable populations, visiting their homes and acting as an RN Care Manager to help them better manage their healthcare. She served diligently, advocating for them while providing support and guidance as it pertained to navigating the system which was so clearly lacking social, financial and healthcare resources. When visiting with her patients, she realized that the bulk of the time she spent in their homes was not reading their medication bottles or educating them on their complex disease processes (though there was time for that), but instead it was spent holding space. These people who she had just met, who had suffered so much in their lives, without coercion or even asking began laying all of their hurt at her feet. With this, she knew she was where she was meant to be and found purpose in empathizing and encouraging them to seek the therapy they so desperately deserved. The folks she saw had one very obvious thing in common- they were all suffering the fallout of trauma, often generations deep and living a life of lack as a result. She spent countless hours in peoples living rooms listening to their stories of deep wounding, abuse, neglect, lack of resources and poverty. It became apparent to her that living under duress had a seemingly predictable outcome- the almost certain inability to preserve our health and wellness. During this time her own healing journey began to take on a life of its own and really evolve. After decades of talk therapy and retelling the stories of a traumatic childhood, an upbringing laden with uncertainty and scarcity and replaying the seemingly endless cycle of unhealthy, unbalanced and even abusive relationships, she began to journey deeper inward. The more she reconnected with her authentic self and prioritized her own needs, the more she found that the people and guidance she so desperately needed began to meet her where she was at. At the hands of an incredibly wise and talented therapist, she was led on a journey back home, within herself. There she accepted the reality of her cPTSD and learned the necessity of connecting to the body to be able to reprocess and close the trauma loop that had been holding her hostage for all those years. This changed everything. Two years of embodied trauma therapy and mentoring with an intuitive therapist did what two decades of talk therapy could not. Jessica found herself beginning to build her self worth, recognizing that she deserved to create safety within herself, allowing her to realize who she was always meant to be. Jessica is a natural born healer- its who she has always been. Her life may have had a rough start, inarguably dishing out more than any one person deserves. However, that life provided a tremendous amount of wisdom, strength, resilience and KNOWING in her which led her to her purpose of guiding others who have had similar struggles, down a path of deep healing, self love, and empowerment so that they too can create the life they deserve!
